M06.08.01

Brief Description

Welding operations are associated with the intense light that can cause serious and often permanent eye damage if operators do not wear proper eye protection. The intensity of light or radiant energy produced by welding, cutting or brazing operations varies according to a number of factors including the task producing the light, the electrode size and the arc current.

Safety Precautions

In order to prevent exposure to direct and reflected ultraviolet light and infrared rays, employees have to wear protective clothing, eye protection and use welding screens
